Exploring Ouachita National Forest: A Fly Fishing Adventure along the Little Missouri River

As a fly fishing enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting destinations to cast my line. Recently, I had the opportunity to stay at an Airbnb near Albert Pike on the Little Missouri River in the Ouachita National Forest of Arkansas, and it was an experience that I won't soon forget.

Fancy Hill Cabins is nestled in the heart of the forest, surrounded by towering pines and the soothing sound of rushing water as it sits along the banks of Jack Creek. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and I immediately felt at home.

The Little Missouri River, which runs just only a short 10 minute drive away from Fancy Hill Cabins, is known for its fantastic fly fishing opportunities. With crystal-clear water and an abundance of fish, it's a haven for anglers of all skill levels. I spent countless hours wading in the river, casting my line and trying to catch the elusive trout that call the Little Missouri home. These trout are stocked from November through March of each year by Arkansas Game and Fish. It's the perfect destination for fishermen each winter and summer! In the summer, smallmouth and other native fish flourish in the wild and scenic river.

One of the things I loved about staying at the Fancy Hill Cabins was the flexibility it offered. I could fish in the morning, take a break in the afternoon to relax and recharge, and then head back out in the evening when the fish were more active. And when I wasn't fishing, there were plenty of other things to do in the area, from hiking and exploring the forest to simply enjoying the peace and quiet of nature.

Fancy Hill Cabins itself was cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities I needed to make my stay enjoyable. It was the perfect home base for my fly-fishing adventure, and I appreciated the warm hospitality of the hosts. They work endlessly to make their guests have extraordinary experiences and make improvements all the time. Recently, they added a hot tub! A creekside hot tub to enjoy after a day on the water is a DREAM!
