Ozark Adventure

Updated: Jan 9, 2022

Right before the hectic holidays, Ross and I decided to have a little Ozark adventure in northwest Arkansas. I hunted and searched high and low for an affordable cabin in the woods.

And we found Idlewild. Idlewild is found just about 25 minutes south of Harrison, Arkansas. It had all the amenities we could have ever wanted, even down to all the cast iron and gear to cook outside! This secluded cabin came with a full-size bed, a couch, a kitchen, and a full bathroom. The part I adored the most was the cute kitchen window with an airplane plant in it. (Pictured to the left.)

Here is the link for you to check it out on Airbnb - https://abnb.me/xNVwoKc4imb

We got there early one day and enjoyed the scenery of the Ozark Mountains. Having recently moved from the mountains to the Delta, we sure do love a good mountain sunset. It feels cozy and homey.

Usually, for our trips, we go do elaborate things. This trip slowed it down a bit. Instead of doing our normal run-around, we spent the majority of our time at the cabin. The second evening we did an elaborate dinner over the fire. Ross is fantastic at cooking and I got to sit back and enjoy!

We had steak, bacon, potatoes, and asparagus. That combo is so sweet when cooked over the fire!

After cooking dinner, we sat outside underneath the stars in cold weather next to our warm fire. I can't give this Airbnb a high enough review for how awesome it was for us!

We were sad to head home the next day. Our two-night stay just wasn't enough. We got up and headed over to eat at our favorite restaurant on the Buffalo River, Fergusons. This is my absolute favorite place to head on an early morning. We stopped in and had homemade biscuits and cinnamon rolls. It warmed my soul up!

The trip home was long. It was about a 3 1/2 hour drive for us to get back to our home in East Arkansas. But the trip was so worth it!

There are a few MUST DO things in Arkansas. This trip included a few of them.

  1. Eat at Ferguson's Country Store and Restaurant

  2. Stay in a cabin in the Ozarks (they are magical)

  3. Cook a meal over the fire

  4. Look at the stars on a clear winter night

I challenge you to make a must-do list for you in Arkansas! We are constantly finding and adding things to ours and marking them off as we go on short weekend trips. Maybe your new year's resolution is to hike a new trail, see a new mountain, visit a new place, or eat somewhere you've always wanted to go. Go have your own Ozark Adventure!

So go do! Get outside and explore.
