Are you a passionate fly fisherman in search of a new adventure? Look no further than The Ridge at Buffalo Point, situated just a short 5-minute drive from Buffalo Point Campground on the Buffalo River. This hidden gem offers the perfect backdrop for a peaceful fly-fishing trip.
The Ridge at Buffalo Point is nestled in the picturesque Ozark Mountains. It's the perfect spot for those seeking a break from the hectic pace of daily life and an opportunity to reconnect with nature. My favorite scenes of our stay were the amazing sunset off of the front porch and the ambiance of the comfy chairs around the campfire in the evening.
But why should you choose The Ridge at Buffalo Point for your next fly fishing excursion? There are several compelling reasons! First, the Lower Buffalo River is widely recognized for its exceptional fishing. The river is home to a variety of fish, including smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and trout, as you get closer to the confluence of the White River and the Buffalo River. With its crystal-clear waters and diverse aquatic life, the Lower Buffalo River is a fly fisherman's paradise. The Ridge at Buffalo Point is closest to the river at Buffalo Point, only a 5-minute drive away. Other access points within a 30-minute drive are Rush, Spring Creek, and Maumee South.
Crooked Creek is also just up the road in Yellville, Arkansas. It is a blue-ribbon smallmouth bass fishery. The area surrounding Crooked Creek is also rich in natural beauty, with towering bluffs, lush forests, and scenic overlooks. You can enjoy fly fishing, kayaking, hiking, and wildlife viewing in this tranquil and peaceful setting. Public accesses include Kelly's Slab and Yellville City Park. Both are great places to access the river! Be sure to check local rules and regulations for each spot before beginning your Crooked Creek adventure.
The Ridge at Buffalo Point offers a range of accommodations to suit any budget and preference. Whether you're looking for a rustic camper cabin with a separate bathhouse or a luxurious, classicly built cabin with modern amenities, you're sure to find an option that meets your needs. And with its secluded and convenient location, you'll feel like you're in your own private oasis. I'm already wanting to plan my next trip to stay in one of their camper cabins!
The Ridge at Buffalo Point also offers a variety of activities for non-fishing enthusiasts, including hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. So, if you're seeking a well-rounded vacation, The Ridge at Buffalo Point is the perfect destination.
Wild Bill's Outfitter is just a few seconds up the road and offers canoe, kayak, and raft rentals for the Buffalo River. Be sure to call ahead, as they sell out on busy weekends! Wild Bill's is also a great spot to pick up firewood.
The area boasts a rich cultural heritage and plenty of opportunities for exploration. Buffalo Point has multiple trails, the most popular of which is the Indian Rockhouse Trail. These are great places to explore in solitude or with friends. Another great trail to hike is at the abandoned town of Rush. You walk by abandoned zinc mines, interpretive panels, and other signs of the people who used to live in this once-bustling town. Exploring the lower Buffalo National River area will bring you back time and time again.
With its stunning views, outstanding fishing, and range of activities, you're sure to have an unforgettable experience. So, pack your gear and head to The Ridge at Buffalo Point for an adventure you'll never forget!
