Imagine fishing in crystal-clear rivers framed by stunning landscapes, filled with vibrant wildlife, and charming places to stay. From the tranquil Mulberry River to the majestic Buffalo River, Arkansas holds a wealth of fly fishing secrets waiting for you.
1. Mulberry River: An Angler’s Paradise
The Mulberry River is a must-visit for all types of anglers. Renowned for its clear waters, it offers exceptional fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and rainbow trout. At 70 miles long, this river meanders through the Ozark Mountains, creating breathtaking views that make your fishing experience even more enjoyable.
Accessible and user-friendly, the Mulberry River caters to both seasoned experts and those new to fly fishing. The gentle current and beautiful surroundings set a perfect scene for a day out on the water. I loved getting to fish near Oark, Arkansas at Forest Service accesses on Highway 215. I swam in the cool, clear water and caught a fair amount of native smallmouth bass. I love this area!
Of course, when you are in the area, you must grab a bite to eat at the Oark Cafe! This is a classic restaurant with fantastic burgers and homemade pies.

2. White River: The Legendary River
One of Arkansas's most famous fishing spots, the White River is legendary among anglers. Known for producing trophy trout, this river draws fishing enthusiasts from around the country. With miles of breathtaking scenery, it has become a haven for anglers seeking to catch both brown and rainbow trout.
Experienced anglers can explore secret fishing holes where tranquility reigns. When you’re not reeling in a big catch, take a moment to absorb the stunning landscapes of towering cliffs and lush forests surrounding the river. It's easy to have a great day on the White River!

3. Spring River: A Unique Fly Fishing Experience
Looking for something a bit different? The Spring River offers a unique mix of fishing with beautiful surroundings. Its natural springs not only feed the river but create a rich ecosystem ideal for smallmouth bass and channel catfish. Spanning about 30 miles, this river features calm pools and lively rapids, providing a variety of fishing conditions suitable for all skill levels.
Whether you're navigating the gentle flows or tackling the more challenging areas, the Spring River offers unique experiences that can be enjoyed year-round. Cozy lodges and cabins in nearby towns are available for those wishing to extend their stay into a multi-day fishing excursion. This is one of our absolute favorite places to fish. I may be a little biased though, because our friend Goose is here!

4. Buffalo River: Nature’s Masterpiece
The Buffalo River stands out for its incredible natural beauty. Designated as a National River, it showcases stunning rock formations and an array of wildlife. Known for its abundant smallmouth bass population, this river attracts anglers eager for fishing and adventure.
Beyond fishing, the Buffalo River provides countless recreational opportunities. Paddle down its tranquil waters, hike the scenic trails, or soak in breathtaking views before casting your line. After a fulfilling day of activities, you’ll find an assortment of campgrounds and charming lodging options where you can unwind.
