Vandiver Christmas Tree Farm - New Castle, AR

The day after Thanksgiving is the official start of the Christmas season in most households. In our house, we LOVE to get a real Christmas tree. The smell of a fresh tree in your living room just has a way of making the outside come on in. This year we had a special treat for this adventure...

We went to the local Christmas tree farm! Vandiver's Christmas Tree Farm in Newcastle, Arkansas (just south of Wynne).

We were greeted at the door with a hot cup of cider and freshly popped popcorn. The owner was sure to introduce himself and explain the process. There were trees that were from the northeast and a field of trees grown right here in Arkansas.

We walked among the planted trees and picked out what we both thought had the halo above it (just like when they found their tree on Christmas Vacation). Our tree is as tall as it can be in our house, as every tree should be, and smells wonderful.

As we checked out, the people were friendly, the baked goods and Christmas cheer were bright. For as long as we are in East Arkansas, this is where we will get our Christmas tree!

I encourage you to get a real tree this year. One of the best benefits of this is after you are done with it. Trees make great habitat for native fish in lakes around Arkansas. Usually Arkansas Game and Fish hold a drive to gather these trees and disperse them in water for this reason. This is so much better than getting a fake Christmas tree. These fake trees will be around far longer than we would like. This waste will end up in landfills and create no value for our environment. So do the world justice and get the real one! You'll love the smell, effects, and memories for years to come.

This is another thing to get you outside! So go and enjoy Arkansas this holiday season!
